What New Things Will You Be Trying in 2022?
As the New Year approaches, it’s time to start making our resolutions. No more cake. No more skipping the gym. It’s time to drop our bad habits. But New Year isn’t just about giving things up. Indeed, it’s a chance to try new things. That’s no truer than in the wild world of events.
But what new event trends will we all be trying out in 2022?
We set out to find out.
In-Person Events are Back by Popular Demand
We spent 2020 cooped up inside during lockdown; then, 2021 wasn’t much better. But 2022 looks set to change all that.
No longer do people want to socialise over their computer screens. If we’ve learned anything: there’s no substitute for reality. We want real-life events, face-to-face conversations, and the intimacy of all being in the same room.
It might not be new – but it certainly feels like it. Expect events to be smaller but more common. After all, we’re all craving a little in-person socialising. There’s just one minor disclaimer: health and safety measures will still be of paramount importance. That’ll affect everything from space for events, food preparation practises, and more.
The Year of the Hybrid Event
It’s not just the newest buzzword. Hybrid events seamlessly combine real-world events with a virtual component. So, no matter where you find yourself, you’ll never miss out.
Integrating technology flawlessly into existing events is an ingenious way to enhance the overall experience. It’s fun and inventive.
Perhaps the best example of the hybrid revolution is the Selfiebot. Developed for events and conferences, the Selfiebot roams amongst the attendees, taking snaps and capturing the action. It’s the ultimate robotic photo booth. And with photos being sent to guests via SMS or email, social media is always tracking what’s going on.
Creative catering
Sit down dining is so 2021. Next year, we can all expect a more creative approach to catering events.
Food trucks. Ethnic cuisines. Delicious baked delights. And much more. With food trucks and caterers increasingly exploring bold new options, you’re likely to sample a wide array of cuisines and foods in 2022. People want to try something new and memorable. That leads to some fun and funky catering ideas.
I mean, who doesn’t want to dig into a delicious salted caramel doughnut!
Big, bold cakes
Speaking of cakes – gone are the days of smaller and smaller cakes. 2022 is all about doing things bigger and better.
Cake designs are becoming larger than life, including pressed flowers, bas reliefs, and a cacophony of colours. They’re not just delicious; they’re the focal point of the party. Four- or five-tiered cakes are the new norm! So, don’t be surprised if these statement cakes start popping at weddings, events, or even as part of cool installations.
